Julie Jarvis, the widow of roadworker Kevin Jarvis, who was tragically killed whilst at work is to become an ambassador for the Stamp it Out campaign.
Speaking exclusively to the campaign in an interview broadcast for the first time yesterday Julie said she felt it was now her "calling" to help to campaign for an end to the abuse of roadworkers at the hands of members of the public.
On 26th February 2022, Kevin Jarvis was killed when the stationary vehicle he was in was struck in a road closure by a wanted criminal attempting to evade the police.
His vehicle was travelling at speeds in excess of 100 mph when it struck Kevin's vehicle.
Tragically, in the early hours of that morning Kevin was killed instantly as the vehicle he was sitting in became a crumpled wreck, with the rear wheels almost embedding themselves underneath the front seat of his Ford Focus.
Kevin was posthumously awarded the Hero in Highways award at the 2022 Highways Heroes awards which Julie collected on his behalf.
Speaking about becoming an ambassador for the Stampi t it Out campaign, Julie said,
"I'm delighted and honoured to be asked to supporting such a vital campaign which. plays a vital role in eliminating the abuse of our roadworkers.
"All of these individuals are somebody's Husband or Wife, Father or Mother and the impact these incidents have can be far reaching across many people."
