Dates Announced for Respect Our Workers Week

Industry to unite around workforce abuse for a week in June 2023.

Safer Highways are pleased to announce the dates for this year's Respect our Workforce Week will be the week commencing the 12th June 2023.

The climax of almost three years activity behind the scenes for the #Stampitout programme, the week will include:

  • A podcast in partnership with Highways Voices, designed to highlight the issue to the broader sector

  • A high level thought leadership summit at the House of Lords designed to empower our senior leaders to prioritise Roadworker abuse as a way of improving workforce wellbeing.

  • The release of a series of resources made available to the broader sector to deliver as toolbox talks.

  • The full open access release of the Stamp it Out "Jarvis" app for all organisations within our sector to empower their workforce to download and use for the reporting of instances of abuse and incursions.

  • A number of other key announcements in both industry and national media about the future direction of the programme and its strategy over the next three years.

Speaking about the announcement, Programme Director, Kevin Robinson, said,

"When we founded #stampitout tackling roadworker and indeed the wider abuse of transportation workers has been the sole aim of the programme."

"It has long been a blight on our sector and had a massive negative impact on the perception of those whom we wish to influence in choosing our industry as a career of choice.

"Our programme, over time, through the dedication of many devoted individuals has now reached such a point that we are at a stage where key stake holders see it as the bastion of good practice around the subject.

"We now feel that with the level of stakeholder engagement we have it is time to go to industry and issue a rallying call to join us and finally take positive steps to eliminate workforce abuse."
